The Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Project (TAPP) is a program with special emphasis on services for teen parents
and their children. Any girl 18 years of age and under who is pregnant or has had children and is a resident of Shasta or Butte
Counties is eligible for TAPP. Male teens through age 20 who are parenting or expecting a baby are also eligible for TAPP.
Services are free to participants, regardless of their income. The Cal-Learn Program provides case management services for
pregnant and parenting teens who receive TANF, with the goal of helping them return to school and graduate with a high school diploma or GED.
TAPP and Cal-Learn can help you:
- Stay in school
- Get job training, plan a career or look for a job
- Define personal, family, and career goals
- Take care of you and your baby
- Prepare for labor and delivery
- With problem-solving skills
- Learn about community resources
We can help you obtain:
- Medical care during and after pregnancy
- Childbirth education
- Financial help
- Vocational counseling
- Child care
- Counseling (school, family, adoption, nutrition or substance abuse)
