Teen couple

The Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Project (TAPP) is a program with special emphasis on services for teen parents and their children. Any girl 19 years of age and under who is pregnant or has had children and is a resident of Shasta or Butte Counties is eligible for TAPP. Male teens through age 19 who are parenting or expecting a baby are also eligible for TAPP. Services are free to participants, regardless of their income. The Cal-Learn Program provides case management services for pregnant and parenting teens who receive TANF, with the goal of helping them return to school and graduate with a high school diploma or GED.

TAPP and Cal-Learn can help you:

  •  Get job training, plan a career or look for a job
  •  Define personal, family, and career goals
  •  Take care of you and your baby
  •  Prepare for labor and delivery
  •  With problem-solving skills
  •  Learn about community resources

We can help you obtain:

  •  Medical care during and after pregnancy
  •  Childbirth education
  •  Financial help
  •  Vocational counseling
  •  Child care
  •  Counseling (school, family, adoption, nutrition or substance abuse)
